Day 5! After the first week of the internship, I can say it's been better than I expected. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help, and I've gotten to know the REU students and other interns very well. A small part of me says it's sad because the internship is only 5 more weeks.
Today, after our short meeting, Alexa and I spent the morning finishing up our write-ups. We are close to 5 or 6 different activities now! Afterwards I spent the rest of the morning learning how to code Python. While not the most exciting thing in the world, I understand that it is necessary for future research work. The website Matt recommended (CodeCademy) is very useful for this.
For lunch, the interns met infront of the CIS building for a grill/volleyball activity. After two hotdogs and a soda, I played some volleyball with the rest of the group. Interns v. REU students, it's still unknown who won...
For the rest of the afternoon I continued with my Python course, writing a Battleship program and running a small grocery store as practice examples.
I'm looking forward to the next weeks!
